Brief /
The concept of the posters was “Bedlam”. The restriction of this project was that I can only use black and white. The concept needed to be inspired by my own experiences and stories about living in San Francisco.
Bedlam was the word I choose. The word means
1. A scene or state of wild uproar and confusion.
2. Archaic. an insane asylum or madhouse.

My life here in San Francisco during these past two years wasn’t easy. I came alone from Taiwan without a single friend here. I speak a different language and also have a different cultural background. Sometimes I struggled with depression, but I couldn’t find anyone to help. The poster series represents my feeling of anger, depression, and helplessness. I used my own hand to create the illustration and shattered type effect and to take pictures, which I believed is the best way to present my own story.
